# Virtual RAM Guide

This guide explains how to properly configure <mark style="color:orange;background-color:orange;">virtual\_ram\_gb</mark> — one of the most important settings for running many tabs.

#### Why Use Virtual RAM?

When running many Roblox instances, Windows may run out of memory even if RAM looks available. Increasing the Windows **page file** (Virtual RAM) helps prevent crashes and "out of memory" errors.

#### How to Configure Virtual RAM

1. Open <mark style="color:orange;background-color:orange;">volt-headless.settings.json</mark>
2. Find these two lines and edit them:

Recommended Settings:

1. <mark style="color:orange;background-color:orange;">virtual\_ram\_drive:</mark> Leave it as "" (empty) → VoltX will automatically choose the best drive.
2. <mark style="color:orange;background-color:orange;">virtual\_ram\_gb:</mark>

* Check your **free SSD space**.
* Subtract **50–80 GB** as headroom.
* Enter that number.

**Example**: If you have 300 GB free → Set <mark style="color:orange;background-color:orange;">virtual\_ram\_gb</mark> to 200 or 220.

Important Requirements

1. Edit <mark style="color:orange;background-color:orange;">volt-headless.settings.json</mark>
2. Save the file
3. Restart <mark style="color:orange;background-color:orange;">volt-headless.exe</mark> as **Administrator**.
4. A PC reboot is required for changes to take full effect.
5. This setting consumes actual disk space on your drive.
